| i3 Driver |
 |
Applying the proven technology of the TiSITM driver-- including a nearly parallel top and sole, variable face thickness and custom-fit hosels-- PING engineers designed the i3 Driver for golfers who prefer the size and feel of a stainless steel driver. At 198 cc, the clubhead offers workability off the tee, yet is extremely forgiving due to its design attributes.
As with all PING golf clubs, the i3 Driver is available with a wide range of fitting options. These variables can help golfers of all ability levels achieve maximum distance and control.
|
The i3 Driver is available in 4 lofts (7°, 9°, 11°, 13°) and 5 flexes of graphite shafts (L, A, R, S, X) or 3 flexes of steel shafts (R, S, X). The driver can also be built within a wide range of lengths. During a fitting, the club fitter can help identify the combination of loft and shaft flex that provides optimum trajectory and maximum distance.
|
Control off the tee for most golfers means keeping the ball in the fairway. For more accomplished
players, it may mean hitting the ball on a particular side of the fairway to prepare for the approach
shot. Regardless of your ability level, the i3 Driver is designed to provide maximum control by means o
f a thermoplastic hosel similar to the one in the TiSI driver.
|
 |
| This hosel is available in 12 different
configurations that combine 3 face angles (O=open, S=straight and C=closed) and 4 lie angles
(F=flat, S=standard, U=upright and X=extra upright) to affect ball flight. |
Common Innovations of PING Metal Woods
- A variable-thickness face which optimizes performance by positioning more mass in the impact area and creating efficient energy transfer to the golf ball. This patented design feature optimizes spin and lift for hotter trajectory.
- A nearly parallel top and sole which creates a structurally rigid clubhead that resists deformation at impact and transfers more energy to the golf ball. Conventional drivers with rounded tops tend to flex at impact, absorbing energy instead of transferring it to the ball.
|
 |
- An elliptical backweight which increases inertia, helping the face remain square through impact
when mishit on the heel or toe. The backweight also helps stabilize loft when the ball is hit high or
low on the face, optimizing trajectory for maximum distance.
- A patented thermoplastic hosel
available in multiple configurations of lie angle and face offset/angle to help control hooks and
slices. |
